Project IMPETUS weapon detection for smart cities funded by the European Union

PROJECT IMPETUS

The European Union funded the IMPETUS project, which ended in February 2023. Since then, we have made many improvements to the Weapon Detector tool. These changes have greatly increased its accuracy. low number of false positives/negatives) and scope (types of weapons that can be detected). The work has involved a complete revamp of the underlying AI model. The tool was first created by CINEDIT. It is now managed by a new company called AiLert. They are promoting it under the name SAMSON.

This is AiLert (formerly 1720a). An AI video platform that detects weapons in real-time using latest machine learning algorithms and state-of-the-art first responder security protocols. Joe Levy, the founder, was originally based in Switzerland. He moved to the UAE in 2021. Before moving, he created several virtual reality weapon detection services for the Swiss military. AiLErt (formerly 1702ai) helps to alert response times and provides near real-time situation awareness to first responders.
